Science On Tap

Three Colorado State University graduate students and two CSU faculty members recently launched an initiative in Fort Collins called Science on Tap, a program that connects the community with science — at a local brewery.

The free event, which takes place once a month at the Pateros Creek brewery, features CSU faculty discussing their work.

“We want people to feel like it is a safe place to ask questions and get answers from scientists rather than Wikipedia,” says Danielle Adney. Adney had the idea to bring Science on Tap to Fort Collins after being inspired by a friend who started a similar initiative at West Virginia University.

The event hosts a speaker or panel of experts who give an informal 30- to 40-minute talk about their research or a hot topic of science. Afterwards the audience is encouraged to have a discussion with the speakers.
