Thomas Bradley, department head, and Erika Miller, assistant professor, in the Department of Systems Engineering in the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering, have been granted $100,000 from the  Colorado Department of Transportation to teach industry-informed courses on electric vehicle engineering, manufacturing, and high-voltage safety.

They will partner with Lightning eMotors, a manufacturer of zero-emission fleet vehicles based in Loveland, Colorado, to create a relevant and practical curriculum and hope to recruit a diverse student base that includes veterans.

The grant is one of 11 administered by CDOT’s Office of Innovative Mobility totaling $1.04 million. The funding is intended to support organizations around the state that encourage the adoption of zero-emissions vehicles, EV education, and workforce development.
